Destination Imagination

The Springtime is a time for blossoming, change, and growth. It’s exciting, with colorful flowers blooming, bright skies, and days getting longer. Energy comes along with all of this, and parents know better than anyone. The kiddos are excited about the nice weather, playing outdoors again, eagerly anticipating spring break and summertime. Playtime becomes important for all of us when the days get warmer and longer, but especially for kids and families. I've collected three destination imagination Sheboygan activities that are exciting for the kids, while giving mom and dad a break.

Mini Mocha Play Café

Our first imagination destination in Sheboygan is the Mini Mocha Play Café in downtown. Mini Mocha is appealing to both children and adults in that it’s an indoor-play haven, and a café with food, coffee, and non-coffee beverages for adults. The space inspires imagination for kids to play and have fun with other kids, and for adults to socialize, and relax. They even offer free Collectivo drip coffee, tea, and free wifi. Additionally, there are specialty coffee and non-coffee drinks available in the real café for kids and adults to enjoy if you get thirsty or hungry. The Play Café is the perfect way for the kids to exercise their imagination while you get a break from chasing them around.

Above and Beyond Children’s Museum

We can guarantee that Above and Beyond Children’s Museum lives up to its name; this multi-level indoor play-oasis will captivate your kids’ imaginations for hours. There are different activities, stimulating interactions, and plenty of space the kiddos to get their zoomies out. With three levels of exhibits to explore, the kids will never get bored. There are spaces for parents to sit and relax, while keeping an eye on the kids and their exciting discoveries. If the weather is nice during your visit, there is even an impressive outdoor playground the kids will love just as much! The playground features a giant picket octopus that the kids can climb on and in. The best thing about the Purple Octopus Playground is that it’s ADA friendly!

Bookworm Gardens

An immensely popular spring/summer destination in Sheboygan is the renowned Bookworm Gardens; a magical busting botanical garden based on well-loved children’s books and stories! Integrated across the garden grounds are literary elements and features paying homage to the characters, settings, and themes of the tales. There are also laminated editions of the books the garden represents across the property, covering stories ranging from classic stores like The Three Little Pigs and Winnie the Pooh and the Hundred Acre Wood, to more contemporary stories like Pinkalicious and The Little Blue Truck. Whether you have young children or preteens, the gardens are a beautiful and captivating attraction unique to Sheboygan. Everyone is sure to love strolling through the bursting flowers, pointing out beloved characters and tales, taking a trip down memory lane, and indulging in this magical bit of nature. The gardens open their gates for the season starting on May 1st.

There you have it! These destinations are bursting with creativity, inspiration, and hours of play. It's hard not to recall how exciting these places are to children, even adults can enjoy the happiness and energy it brings to kids.
