By Neil Simon

Seven Ages Theatricals, Sheboygan’s premiere independent theatre company, is bringing Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple” to comic life this June. This classic story about two down-and-out men, the slob and the neat freak, coming to live together and clash over their many differences has been brought to the screen on film and TV.

The Odd Couple tells the story of Oscar, a man who lets things go from his house to his alimony, and Felix, a neurotic mess of a man who budgets every last penny and cleans every last surface. When Felix’s wife throws him out, Oscar agrees to take Felix in. When two personalities this opposite come to a head, chaos is bound to follow.

Bri is a girl with incredible knowledge about the wrecks, storms, and heroes of the Great Lakes. The two begin an adventure that allows them to time-travel back to the day of some of the most horrific wrecks in Lake Michigan’s history. With Bri’s guidance, Chase experiences the harrowing details of each of the ship’s final hours.

About the Author
Kathy (Ackley) Groth lives with her husband Chuck, in Northern Wisconsin. Kathy taught elementary school for many years. She and her husband Chuck raised two daughters and enjoy the company of five grandchildren. Now retired, Kathy shares her passion for education through children’s literature, inspiring curiosity and wonder in children through her second career as an author.
Her love for children and children’s literature has always been her inspiration. The idea for SUNKEN was driven by Kathy’s daughters who became interested in shipwrecks on a circle tour of Lake Superior when they were very young. After an exhaustive and unproductive search for children’s books about shipwrecks, Kathy decided to write one. Twenty-eight years later the book is finished and Kathy is proud to be able to present it to you.

Join us June 20th from 4pm-6pm in On the Rocks Bar & Grill to meet Sean Quinn, Real Estate Consultant with the Kramer Group. Sean was born and raised in the Sheboygan area and recently returned to be close to friends and family because he believes that Sheboygan isn't just a summer vacation destination, it's an opportunity. In Sheboygan, you can own a home (or second home) for less, raise a family in a safe community, invest in real estate for a brighter future - maybe start your own shop or restaurant. When you couple the lake life amenities with the true ability to be a part of an amazing community, Sheboygan is very attractive.

Sean's biggest inspiration in life are the creators and visionaries...the people who talk of change and creation, and then act on those words. This is your opportunity to start a conversation with Sean about what you would like to create in Sheboygan.

Happy Hour pricing:
Craft Pints $5
Rail Mixers $4
Call Mixers $5

In 1977, Junior was invited to join both Stevie Wonder’s band and Bob Marley & The Wailers band. His parents and musician friends helped him decide to accept Bob Marley’s invitation because they were both Jamaicans. The rest is history. The acclaimed Exodus LP became Junior’s debut with Bob Marley & The Wailers. In 1999, Time Magazine declared Exodus The Album Of The Century, while “One Love” was named Song of the Millennium in 2000. Junior was lead guitarist and musical contributor on all subsequent Bob Marley & the Wailers albums and toured worldwide with the Wailers until Bob’s passing in 1981. Since then, Junior has released four CDs with The Wailers: ID, Majestic Warriors, Jah Message and My Friends (Live), plus numerous solo projects include “Wailin’ For Love”, “Smokin’”, “To The Big M Music”, and “Lion To Zion Dub Wise”. In 2002, Junior was included in Guitar World Magazine’s “Top 100 Guitarists of All Time” for his guitar solo on “Africa Unite” from the Bob Marley & The Wailers Survival album. Junior has also been a featured player on albums by Burning Spear, Bunny Wailer, Beres Hammond, Culture, Joe Higgs, SOJA, The Meditations, Israel Vibration, Alpha Blondy, The Congos, and Alborosie among others. After touring with many incarnations of The Wailers since Bob Marley’s passing, Junior has stepped out to front his own unique version of The Wailers, playing and singing Bob Marley & the Wailers hit songs the way Bob intended them to be heard.

The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli dates back to 1966. Throughout the years, some of the greatest names in motorsports have participated in the Trans Am Series. Names like Tommy Kendall, Mark Donohue, Peter Gregg, Bob Tullius and Wally Dallenbach, Jr. have all won multiple championships under the Trans Am name.

Several distinct classes take center stage in today’s Trans Am Series as it is positioned to power into the future. Trans Am grids are populated by Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers and Corvettes— a massive dose of pure Americana. A Trans Am Series race is 100 miles in length, and does not require a mandatory pit stop for fueling, tires or driver changes.  As a sprint, it is driver versus driver, and that means its flat out racing from start to finish. Learn more about Trans Am.

Formula Race Promotions (FRP) is set to support the Trans Am Speed Tour Weekend at Road America with the F1600 (FF/Formula Ford) Championship Series, F2000 Championship Series, F1000 Championship Series, and the Atlantic Championship Series. Learn more about FRP.

International GT, a North American racing series that includes three different championships for late model Porsche and Ferrari competitors, will also compete during the 2024 Trans Am Speed Tour weekend at Road America. Learn more about International GT.

Summer Fun at Blue Harbor Resort

The best time of the year has finally arrived: summer! School is out, the sun in up, and we’re ready to make the most of this fun, bright, and adventurous season! Excitement for all the summer activities is practically contagious, and so to tide you over until your vacation, I wanted to share with you my day of fun at Breaker Bay Waterpark, along with the other summer activities you won’t want to miss out on during your vacation at Blue Harbor!

Trying Float Therapy at Float Doctor

The end of spring and the start of summer is a busy, and sometimes stressful, time of year. Taking good care of yourself this time of year is important so that you can enter all the fun activities you have planned healthy and balanced. Although self-care and personal wellness takes many forms, I’m here to share a unique wellness practice that I experienced here in Sheboygan at Float Doctor: hydrotherapy.

Bookish Destinations for Readers in Sheboygan

If I haven’t ever shared this in a blog before, I’m a huge bookworm. I love to read, I love literature, I love writing, talking about books, and adding to my TBR list. On top of all this, I am always on the hunt for bookish sightseeing, activities, and places to visit. I love visiting bookstores and libraries, but also destinations that are inspired by literature, or the opposite way around, places that inspired literature. For example, when I visited London, two of the first places I visited were 221B Baker Street and the famous Daunt Bookstore. With that being said, you may not be surprised about the amount of bookish places to visit in London, but you might be surprised by the amount in Sheboygan.

A mid-summer tradition, the WeatherTech® International Challenge with Brian Redman at Road America, taking place July 11-14, 2024, is one of the largest vintage racing events in the United States. The WeatherTech® International Challenge road race features over 400 vintage and historic racecars competing across several days.

The iconic Formula Ford racecar will take center stage as the featured marque for the highly anticipated 2024 WeatherTech International Challenge with Brian Redman at Road America. This momentous occasion will commemorate the 55th Anniversary of the Formula Ford racer’s illustrious history, paying homage to the legendary machines that have graced the track over the years. Formula Ford has long been revered as a breeding ground for aspiring racing drivers, nurturing talent and showcasing exhilarating competition. The 2024 event promises to be a fitting tribute to the remarkable legacy of these open-wheel racecars, highlighting their enduring impact on motorsport.

An additional feature that is sure to thrill participants and attendees is the Ragtime Racers exhibition. Dressed in period coveralls, goggles, and leather helmets, they bring the spirit of early racing to life while ensuring everyone’s safety. The Ragtime Racers offer an immersive journey into history. Their pits feature a mesmerizing 100-foot diorama, replicating a race shop from over a century ago, complete with authentic tools, a forge, vintage equipment, and period-specific signage.

The Ragtime Racers are the only group where race organizers permit a “rider” in race cars on track, creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience for hundreds of guests, VIPs, and news media. At Road America, be prepared to step back in time and witness the Ragtime Racers’ living tribute to motorsports heritage. It’s not just racing; it’s a captivating journey through history at America’s National park of Speed.

The WeatherTech International Challenge is a premier vintage gathering featuring everything from the sights and sounds of the past 100 years of racing to a special Concours d’Elegance on Friday and Saturday along the streets of Elkhart Lake. If you’re a collector of anything vintage, love midcentury styling, or just adore the Evergleam, this is an event you will not want to miss. From cars to cuisine, or fashion to films, whatever you love, you’re guaranteed to find something for you at this year’s Mid-Mod Manitowoc Summer Convention.

As much as we love the Holidays, winter on the lakeshore can be a tough season for travelers. Many visitors make it to Manitowoc in the winter for Evergleams on Eighth, but so many more are deterred by the snow and cold. Summer on the Lakeshore is absolutely beautiful, and just because our favorite aluminum tree was made for Christmas doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate them - as well as Manitowoc’s midcentury manufacturing history - any time of the year! What started as an idea to host an aluminum tree collector’s convention has now ballooned into something much bigger!
