A Guide to Gluten Free, Vegan, and Vegetarian Dining in Sheboygan

At the start of every new year, goals and resolutions are being talked about everywhere you turn. There are some that return time and time again, usually revolving around bettering yourself and your health. For the first blog of the New Year, I wanted to write a blog about a topic important to me that can resonate with many people year-round, while also opening a door of understanding and knowledge to people who aren’t as familiar with the topic; and that is allergen friendly eating. Specifically, gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian eating. Whether you have a specific allergy or a special dietary need, I am here to provide you with a guide to friendly and healthy eating in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Black Pig: The Black Pig in Downtown is a great destination for people with gluten sensitivities. They offer four full entrées that are gluten free. Additionally, you can adapt a meal to be gluten-friendly with a gluten-free bun, fries, or a soup.

Faye’s Pizza: Faye’s is one of the most popular pizza place in Sheboygan, and luckily, they offer gluten free crusts in addition to their classic crusts. Not only is Faye’s the destination for a gluten-free pizza night, you can head on over to 3 Sheeps Brewery and sip their gluten free seltzers, Cloudless and order Faye’s pizza to 3 Sheeps.

Field to Fork, Trattoria Stefano, Il Ritrovo, and Stefano’s Slo Food Market: These beloved Sheboygan favorites are actually owned by Stefano and Whitney Viglietti who own these four cuisine establishments: Trattoria Stefano, Il Ritrovo, Stefano’s Slo Food Market and Field to Fork. All of their restaurants have a variety of vegetarian, gluten free, and vegan options on their menu. Across all their restaurant menus as well as their food market, fresh, good, and healthy food is a top priority. You won’t find food that doesn’t have a clear source, and is guaranteed fresh.

Greece E Spoon: You’ll forget you’re in the Midwest while eating at this Sheboygan favorite! Recently, the Greece E Spoon went over renovations and re-opened their physical location on 8th Street. The restraint serves authentic Greek dishes, like Gyros, Pita, Baklava, and more! They offer a veggie gyro for vegetarian friends, as well as a vegan falafel! Some of their sides/appetizers are vegetarian, and gluten free (such as the lemon artichoke hummus-GF, and Spanakopita).

Paradigm Coffee and Music: This popular social and remote-working destination crosses off gluten-friendly and vegan options. Everything on Paradigm's main menu can be made gluten free, their sandwiches, bagel sandwiches, and burritos. Their impressive bakery display case is full of a selection of gluten free items, vegan items, and even some that check off both boxes. If you are visiting with a friend or family member who doesn’t need gluten free or vegan options, there are also items that they will enjoy.

Parker John's: Although there is less of an emphasis on vegetarian and vegan options, Parker John's is, however, a gluten-friendly destination offering gluten free pizza crusts, salads, and dinner rolls. Their gluten free pizza crusts are also keto-friendly.

Weather Center Café: Located on the boardwalk, this café offers a variety of dairy-free milk options, gluten free adaptations on their menu, and offer gluten free bakery treats in their display case if you catch them on the right day! Weather Center consistently have several vegetarian options on their menu, and a handful of vegan options too.

That's all for today, which is not to say that is all there is to speak of. There are definitely a couple of places I have forgotten about or are yet to discover, so stick around and keep an eye out for a part two to this blog one day!
